Description
The Automatic Shut-Off Valve for RO (often called an ASO valve or 4-way valve) is a small hydraulic valve that stops water flowing through a non-pumped RO system when the storage tank is full. Without it, water keeps running through the membrane and down the drain even when no purified water is needed, wasting a lot of water.
How the Automatic Shut-Off Valve for RO works
The valve has four ports: two for the feed water (in and out) and two for the product water (from the membrane and to the tank). As the tank fills, pressure on the product side rises. When it reaches about two-thirds of the feed pressure, a diaphragm inside the valve closes the feed side and stops flow. When you draw water and tank pressure falls, the valve reopens and the system restarts automatically.

Installation
Follow the markings on the valve body: “IN” and “OUT” for feed water before the membrane, and the product ports between the membrane and the tank. Use a check valve on the membrane product line so tank water cannot flow back. Our technicians replace ASO valves during RO servicing in Muscat.
