Description
The Whole-House Sediment Filter protects your entire home from sand, rust, silt and scale particles. It is installed on the main water line after the pump, so every tap, shower, water heater and appliance receives cleaner water. In many Omani villas this is the first and most important stage of water treatment, especially where water comes from rooftop tanks or tanker deliveries.
Why filter sediment at the main line?
- Stops sand from blocking shower heads, aerators and mixer cartridges
- Protects water heaters from sediment build-up
- Prevents scratches and wear in washing machine and dishwasher valves
- Extends the life of softeners, UV systems and RO units downstream
- Reduces cloudy or discoloured water

Typical configuration
We usually combine two stages: a washable spin-down pre-filter that traps heavy sand and can be flushed through a valve, followed by a 20-inch big blue housing with a 5 or 20 micron cartridge for finer particles. Pressure gauges show when the cartridge needs changing. A bypass lets water continue during service.
Typical specifications
| Stage 1 | Spin-down sediment filter with flush valve |
| Stage 2 | 20″ x 4.5″ big blue housing with sediment cartridge |
| Connections | 1 inch (3/4 inch for apartments) |
| Typical flow | Up to approx. 3–4 m³/h |
| Accessories | Pressure gauges, bypass, mounting bracket |
Maintenance
Flush the spin-down filter weekly or whenever you see sand collecting. Change the cartridge every 3 to 6 months, or when the pressure drop across the housing rises. If you want softer water too, add a water softener after the Whole-House Sediment Filter. See cartridges in our filter cartridges range and complete whole-house filtration systems. Frequently asked questions
Will it reduce water pressure? Very little when correctly sized and maintained.
Can it be installed on the roof? Yes, in shade, but ground level near the pump is easier to service.
