Description
The Commercial UV Sterilizer 55 GPM is a high-capacity ultraviolet disinfection system for buildings and process lines. Rated at roughly 55 US gallons per minute (about 12.5 m³/h), it treats the main water supply of hotels, hospitals, schools, residential towers, restaurants and food factories. UV-C light inactivates bacteria, viruses and protozoa as water flows through the stainless steel reactor, with no chemicals added and no by-products formed.
In Oman it is commonly installed after storage tanks and filtration, or on the product line of commercial RO plants.
Applications
- Hotels, resorts and serviced apartments
- Hospitals, clinics and laboratories
- Schools, universities and labour accommodation
- Food and beverage production, ice plants and bakeries
- Product water from commercial and industrial RO plants
- Farms and camps with well water

How the Commercial UV Sterilizer 55 GPM works
The reactor houses high-output UV-C lamps inside quartz sleeves. As water flows along the chamber it receives a germicidal dose at 254 nm. The control panel powers the lamps, tracks running hours and raises an alarm on lamp failure. An optional UV intensity sensor measures the actual dose reaching the water, and a solenoid valve can shut off flow if UV output drops, which is useful for sites with strict hygiene requirements.

Designing for reliable disinfection
UV performance depends on peak flow and water clarity. We check pump duty, peak demand and UV transmittance, then specify pre-filtration such as multimedia or cartridge filters, and a softener where hardness could scale the sleeves. Many projects combine the Commercial UV Sterilizer 55 GPM with a commercial RO plant; see our commercial and industrial RO plants and the full UV sterilizers range.
Maintenance and AMC
Lamps are replaced every 9,000 to 12,000 operating hours depending on type, and sleeves are cleaned at each change. Farz Water offers annual maintenance contracts with scheduled lamp changes, sleeve cleaning and controller checks, plus spares held in Muscat. For more on UV disinfection, see Wikipedia.
Frequently asked questions
Can one unit cover a whole hotel? It depends on peak flow. Larger sites may need two units in parallel for capacity and redundancy.
Does UV leave a residual? No. UV disinfects at the point of treatment. Where a residual is required, we can add a chlorine dosing system.
