Description
The Sediment Filter Cartridge 1 Micron is a fine 10-inch cartridge that captures very small particles down to 1 micron, including fine silt, clay, rust and scale particles that pass through standard 5-micron filters. It is used as a polishing stage before sensitive equipment such as RO membranes, UV sterilizers, coffee machines and water dispensers.
It fits all standard 10-inch filter housings with a 2.5-inch cartridge diameter.
When to choose a Sediment Filter Cartridge 1 Micron
A 1-micron cartridge is the right choice when water clarity really matters. For example, UV sterilizers need very clear water, because particles can shield bacteria from the UV light. Espresso machines and ice makers can be damaged by fine particles. In RO systems, a 1-micron stage after the 5-micron filter gives the membrane extra protection on dirty supplies.
Because it is finer, it collects dirt faster than a 5-micron filter. For that reason we install it after a coarser cartridge rather than as the first stage.

Replacement interval

Is 1 micron the same as a membrane? No. A 1-micron cartridge removes particles but not dissolved salts or most bacteria. Those need RO or UV.
