Description
The Sediment Filter Cartridge 20 inch is a jumbo 20 x 4.5 inch polypropylene cartridge for “big blue” whole-house filter housings. It is installed on the main line of villas, buildings and commercial sites to remove sand, rust, silt and scale particles before water reaches pumps, water heaters, softeners, UV sterilizers and taps.
Its large surface area holds much more dirt than a standard 10-inch slim cartridge, so it lasts longer and keeps flow high.
Why use a Sediment Filter Cartridge 20 inch?
In Oman, most homes and buildings store water in tanks that collect sand and sediment, especially after tanker deliveries or network maintenance. Without whole-house filtration, this dirt ends up in shower heads, mixer cartridges, heater tanks and washing machines. A 20-inch big blue sediment stage at the point of entry catches it before it causes damage, and protects downstream treatment such as softeners and UV units.

Choosing the right micron rating
For most villas, a 5 or 10-micron Sediment Filter Cartridge 20 inch gives a good balance of protection and flow. Where water is very dirty, a two-stage set-up works best: 20 or 50 micron first, then 5 micron. Before a UV sterilizer we recommend 5 micron or finer. Replacement interval
Most homes change the cartridge every 3 to 6 months. Watch the pressure gauge if you have one: a drop of more than about 0.7 bar (10 psi) across the housing means it is time to change. Frequently asked questions
Will it fit my housing? It fits standard 20-inch big blue housings with 4.5-inch diameter cartridges. It will not fit slim 20-inch housings, which take 2.5-inch cartridges.
Can I wash and reuse it? Melt-blown cartridges are not designed for washing. For a washable option, ask about pleated cartridges.
