Description
The Filter Housing 10 inch Opaque is a single-stage housing with a solid white bowl for standard 10 x 2.5 inch cartridges. Unlike a clear bowl, the opaque body blocks light. That stops algae and bacteria from growing inside the housing, which matters for carbon cartridges and for installations in bright rooms, balconies or outdoor utility areas, all common situations in Oman.
Why choose a Filter Housing 10 inch Opaque?
Light encourages algae growth in wet filter housings. Activated carbon also removes chlorine, so water inside a carbon housing has no disinfectant left. Combine the two and you can get green slime and bad taste within weeks, especially in Muscat summers. An opaque housing removes the light from the equation. We use clear housings for sediment stages, where seeing dirt is useful, and opaque housings for carbon and post-filter stages.

Installation and care
Install the Filter Housing 10 inch Opaque on the cold water line, following the flow arrow on the cap. Lubricate the O-ring with food-grade silicone grease and hand-tighten with the wrench; do not overtighten. Each time you change the cartridge, rinse the bowl and check the O-ring for cracks. Replace the housing if it shows any damage or after several years of use. For general information on cartridge filtration, see Wikipedia.
Frequently asked questions
How do I know when to change the cartridge? Follow a schedule, usually every 6 months for carbon, or when taste or flow changes.
Can I mix clear and opaque housings? Yes. Most of our RO systems use a clear first housing and opaque carbon housings.
Choosing the right Filter Housing 10 inch Opaque
Before you buy, check three things. First, the cartridge size: this housing takes standard 10 x 2.5 inch cartridges, the most common size in Oman, so replacements are easy to find. Second, the port size: 1/2 inch suits most under-sink and appliance lines, while 3/4 inch gives a little more flow for small whole-room applications. Third, where it will be installed: indoors under a sink, in a utility room, or outside in a shaded area. Our team can advise on the best layout for your kitchen or plant room, and supply the bracket, fittings and tubing to complete the job.
Many customers in Muscat use a Filter Housing 10 inch Opaque as part of a multi-stage set: a clear sediment housing first, then opaque carbon housings, then an RO or UV unit. Building the system from standard parts keeps running costs low, because every cartridge and O-ring is a common size available from Farz Water at any time.
