Description
250 LPH RO plant Oman — the Vertical Compact RO System is a 250 litre per hour reverse osmosis plant built onto a narrow vertical stainless steel frame, for sites where floor space is the constraint rather than output. It suits villas with high-TDS borewell supply, small cafes and restaurants, clinics, labs and site offices that need treated water continuously but cannot give up two square metres of plant room.
Why a vertical frame matters in Oman
Most 250 LPH plants are built horizontally and need roughly 1.2 m of wall run. The vertical arrangement stacks the membrane housings and pump in the same footprint as a domestic washing machine, around 0.6 m by 0.6 m, and takes the height instead. In a Muscat villa plant room or under a staircase, that is usually the difference between fitting the plant and rerouting the plumbing.
250 LPH RO plant Oman: what it actually produces
250 LPH is 6,000 litres in a 24-hour run, or about 2,000 litres over an eight-hour working day. In practice that covers a restaurant serving 150 to 250 covers a day including ice and coffee, a clinic with an autoclave and basin supply, or a household of eight to ten with drinking, cooking and a treated tap in each bathroom.
Feed water matters more than the headline number. At 2,000 ppm TDS the plant runs at rated output. Above 3,500 ppm, recovery drops and the practical output falls closer to 180 to 200 LPH unless the membrane count is increased. We size every 250 LPH RO plant Oman installs from your actual water analysis, not from the nameplate.
Build and components
- Stainless steel 304 vertical frame with adjustable feet
- Two 4040 FRP pressure vessels with Dupont Filmtec membranes
- Grundfos vertical multistage high-pressure pump
- Sediment and activated carbon pretreatment with pressure gauges across each stage
- Low-pressure switch, high-pressure switch and automatic flush valve
- Product and reject flow meters, conductivity meter on the permeate line
- Control panel with hour run meter and dry-run protection
250 LPH RO plant Oman: pretreatment is not optional
Oman feed water carries silica, iron and hardness that will foul a membrane within months if it reaches the vessel untreated. Every 250 LPH plant we install is quoted with pretreatment sized to the water report — typically a multimedia filter and a softener, with antiscalant dosing where hardness is above 300 ppm. Skipping that stage is the single most common reason a 250 LPH RO plant Oman installation fails inside its first year.
Installation and service
Installation includes commissioning, a permeate quality test against WHO drinking water guidelines, and a handover sheet recording feed TDS, permeate TDS, operating pressure and recovery rate. Those four numbers are your baseline; when output drops later, the service engineer compares against them rather than guessing.
Cartridges are changed every three months, membranes typically last two to three years on properly pretreated water. FARZ Water holds membranes and cartridges in Muscat, so a replacement is a same-week job, not a six-week import.
Larger capacities
If your demand is above 500 LPH, look at the Commercial RO Plant 1000 LPH. For factory, hospital and hotel duty, the Industrial RO Plant 4000 LPH is the skid-mounted option.
Running cost of a 250 LPH RO plant Oman
Budget for cartridges four times a year, a membrane change every two to three years, and an annual service visit. On a plant running eight hours a day in Muscat, that works out far below the cost of the bottled or tanker water it replaces, and the gap widens as demand grows. The figure that varies most is antiscalant consumption, which tracks feed hardness rather than run hours.
Power draw is modest. The vertical multistage pump is the only significant load, typically under 1.1 kW, so the plant adds little to a villa or shop electricity bill compared with the chiller or air conditioning it sits beside.
