Description
The FRP Pressure Vessel 1665 is a 16-inch by 65-inch fibreglass-reinforced media tank for commercial and light industrial water treatment. It holds a deep media bed, around 5 cubic feet, so it can treat higher flows and longer runs between regenerations or backwashes. It is a common choice for pre-treatment on commercial RO plants and for softeners in hotels, restaurants, laundries and small buildings in Oman.
Applications
- Commercial water softeners for hotels, restaurants and laundries
- Multimedia and sand filters before commercial RO plants
- Activated carbon filters for dechlorination
- Iron and manganese removal on well water
- Duplex (twin) systems for 24-hour soft or filtered water

Construction
A seamless polyethylene liner holds the water and media. It is wound with continuous glass fibre and resin for high strength, then finished with a moulded base. The vessel will not rust or corrode, does not need painting, and is far lighter than a steel tank of the same size. That makes it well suited to Oman’s coastal and humid environments.

Service flow guide
As a general guide, the FRP Pressure Vessel 1665 suits service flows of roughly 3.5 to 5.5 m³/h depending on media and application. Filters need lower flow than softeners for good performance, and backwash flow must be available from the pump. A 4-inch opening allows larger valves and higher backwash rates. We size each vessel from your water analysis and flow requirement.
Complete systems
We supply the FRP Pressure Vessel 1665 as part of complete filter and softener systems with automatic valves, distributors, gravel and media, or as a replacement vessel. See finished softeners, pretreatment filters and media in media and chemicals. For background on pressure vessels, see Wikipedia.
Installation tips
Install on a level concrete base in shade, with headroom for the valve and media loading. Use flexible connections to the valve to avoid stressing the vessel threads. Backwash new media thoroughly before putting the system into service.
Frequently asked questions
Can it replace an old steel filter? Often yes. We check flow and backwash needs before recommending a replacement.
Do you install media too? Yes, we supply and load gravel, sand, carbon, resin and specialty media.
