Description
The Sediment Filter Cartridge 5 Micron is a 10-inch melt-blown polypropylene (PP) cartridge that traps sand, rust, silt and other suspended particles down to 5 microns. It is the first stage in most home RO systems and the most common replacement filter we supply in Oman. A clean sediment filter protects the carbon filters, RO membrane, pumps and valves further down the line.
It fits all standard 10-inch filter housings with a 2.5-inch diameter cartridge.
Why the Sediment Filter Cartridge 5 Micron matters
Water in Muscat often passes through rooftop or ground storage tanks and long pipe runs before it reaches your taps. Tanks collect sand and scale, and old pipes add rust. Without a sediment stage, this dirt clogs carbon blocks and fouls the RO membrane, shortening their life and reducing flow. A 5-micron cartridge is the right balance: fine enough to protect downstream filters, but open enough to keep good flow.

How often should you change it?
For most homes in Oman, every 3 to 6 months. Change it sooner if the cartridge turns brown, or if RO flow drops noticeably. Homes on tanker water or with dirty tanks may need monthly changes. Should I choose 1 or 5 micron? 5 micron is standard for stage 1. A 1-micron cartridge gives finer filtration but blocks faster; it is usually used as a second stage.
