Description
The Under-Sink UV Sterilizer is a small inline ultraviolet unit that fits inside your kitchen cabinet. It is installed on the drinking water line, usually after the RO storage tank and just before the faucet. As water flows through the stainless steel tube, UV-C light inactivates bacteria and viruses that could grow in the tank or tubing, so every glass is freshly disinfected.
It is a low-cost upgrade for any RO system in Oman, and a good choice for families with babies, elderly members or anyone who wants extra assurance.
Why add an Under-Sink UV Sterilizer to your RO?
An RO membrane removes almost all microorganisms. But purified water then sits in the storage tank and tubing, sometimes for hours in a warm cabinet. Bacteria can enter through the faucet or during filter changes and grow there over time. A UV stage right before the tap deals with this risk without chemicals, and without changing taste.
- Final disinfection immediately before the faucet
- Protects against bacteria regrowth in storage tanks
- Works with tank-type and tankless RO systems
- No chemicals and no taste change
- Very low power use

How it works
A small UV-C lamp inside a quartz sleeve sits in the centre of a stainless steel tube. Water passes around the sleeve and receives a germicidal dose of ultraviolet light at 254 nm. A compact ballast powers the lamp and shows a light to confirm it is working. Because the unit is designed for low flow drinking water lines, it is very efficient.
Key features
- Compact stainless steel UV tube, around 30 cm long
- 1/4 inch quick-connect fittings for standard RO tubing
- Plug-in ballast with status indicator
- Mounting clips for cabinet installation
- Rated for typical RO faucet flow
Typical specifications
| Flow rating | Approx. 1 GPM (3.8 L/min) |
| Lamp | UV-C 254 nm, low wattage |
| Fittings | 1/4 inch push-fit |
| Power | 220–240 V plug-in adaptor |
| Lamp life | Replace every 12 months |
Installation
Installation usually takes less than an hour. We cut into the line between the RO tank and faucet, fit the UV tube with push-fit connectors, clip it to the cabinet wall and plug in the ballast. A power socket under the sink is needed. If you have no RO yet, we can supply a complete package; see our reverse osmosis systems and UV sterilizers.
Maintenance
Replace the UV lamp every 12 months, even if it still lights up, because UV output drops over time. Wipe the quartz sleeve during the lamp change. Learn more about UV disinfection on Wikipedia.
Frequently asked questions
Will it slow my RO faucet? No. The tube is sized for normal RO flow.
Can I fit it to a normal kitchen tap? It is designed for filtered drinking water lines. For a full-flow tap or whole house, choose a larger UV model.
Does it need to stay on? Yes. Leave it switched on so water is treated whenever you use the tap.
